Anti-Racism Every Day: Freedom Dreaming into the New Year
December 29, 2021 @ 8:15 pm - 9:45 pm
$7 – $20
After the ongoing trauma and violence over the last year and a half, from awaiting verdicts to energy draining media, the exhaustion for us anti-racists is real. We owe it to ourselves to mindfully commit to slow down, reflect, recalibrate, reenergize, and plan for the New Year.
Join Anti-Racism Every Day’s discussion event, “Freedom Dreaming into the New Year,” where our community will take part in collectively visualizing a future of joy and liberation for all people, beginning with 2022. During this conversation we will:
- Have discussions in both affinity groups and cross-cultural discussion
- Explore our imagination by thinking through new ideas, systems, models, and approaches for our anti-racism work
- Discuss how to practice hope and joy daily
- Identify small ways of freedom dreaming
- Engage in releasing old energy and practices
For this event, we are pleased to share that we will have a special guest co-host, Radiah Shabazz. Radiah Shabazz is a communications professional, racial equity expert, and mother, whose work is rooted in advancing racial equity and inclusion to ensure Black and Indigenous communities of color have the ability to exist in liberation and forge collective healing to combat the impacts of white inferiority complex (commonly labeled white supremacy). She brings experience in strategic communications, racial equity, organizational change, and anti-oppressive social work practice, and has bridged her strategic communications expertise and social work training to advance racial equity through communications and advocacy in the climate, education, health, and affordable housing sectors. She holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration and a BA in journalism from Howard University.
