Tobacco Use in LGBTQ+ Communities: Creating Affirming Ways to Quit and the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line
February 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

LGBTQ+ folks are at elevated risk for tobacco usage and addiction compared to the rest of the population, and this contributes to the health disparities and inequities that lead to poorer health outcomes for this community. Designed for behavioral health providers, this training will detail tobacco usage in the community, explain why tobacco usage is elevated among this population, and outline the evidence-based best practices for effective tobacco cessation efforts within the LGBTQ+ community. Finally, this training will increase provider knowledge of the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line and the resources that are available through this program.
Your presenters will be Ramona Peel (she/her), Lead Trainer for the Equitas Health Institute, and Amy Gorenflo (she/her), Cessation Services Program Administrator at the Ohio Department of Health. There also will be a live Q&A session with Ramona and Amy.
1.5 Continuing Education Credits in Social Work and Counseling Ethics will be available to attendees.
